Now that the rant is done, you can expect to see Book 1 of the Sins of the Seven series within the next week. I will keep you all posted.

Pubit!
Okay so I know a lot of people have issues with finding the backway to getting published. But you know what? Listen...here's the thing. I want people to read my stuff. Consider this my dues. Yes. I am using pubit to self publish. It will be available as an eBook and while it isn't the traditional "query an agent." way, I am happy with it. I will NOT cease querying agents with some of my other projects but this is a story that I have been working on for years. I want people to read this, and from what I've been told it's decent. Now I won't say it's amazing. But I have put a LOT of work into it. So. yes.

NaNoWriMo '09
Well it's that time of year again. November brings with it the craziness of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo for the in crowds). I've done it every year since 2005, and each year it gets tougher and tougher with the mounting responsibilities of a full time job and life in general. But I tell you that I love the hell out of it and look forward to it every year. It's a chance for writers (professional and amateur and everywhere in between) to let their creative juices flow and participate in one of the craziest months of the year.
The goal you ask? Simple. 50 thousand words written between November 1st and November 30th. It can be daunting. When writer's block hits at 30K, nothing is worse. And it seems nothing short of large quantities of alcohol and sugar can cure it. So check it out. I know I posted this last yeaar too but hey. I figure the more people that do it the better. Not to mention its fun.

Book 2 Drama-rama
I'm so glad that the spirit of this novel has not faded on me. I suppose when you spend so much time researching and creating a realistic world, it sticks. Not to mention I've come to terms with the fact that I will never be a "classic author". I just don't write great enough literary fiction. I am learning to be content with what I can write well, and that is what Gen dubbed "paranormal noir" and I've expanded that to be "urban paranormal noir" well, maybe the new genre name won't catch on and I'll be lumped into Urban fantasy. But hey, if a couple people read it and like it that's all that matters to me.
Book two is about 15,000 words in. I'm happy with the progress. I figure by the time I actually am able to get an agent and publish book 1, books 2 and 3 will be finished. I'm realistic. I know it's not going to happen right away. But I have 4 or five people that have read it (or are in the process of doing so) and say they can't put it down. That's a big boost to my confidence. I don't aspire to be famous. I just want to be able to make a living writing what I love. I'm sure most authors say that, but I truly mean it. If I can write all day in my pajamas I'll be happy. If not? Well then I work a day job and publish by night. That's fine too. I just want to have people read my writing. I write because I love it. I have so many ideas in my head and I can take this series far. I know it. Not to mention the four other ideas in my head right now. But first thing is first. those ideas aren't developed. This one is. So let's focus right?
Right. I'm excited with the direction of this book. It's flowing as easily as the first one did. I can only hope the momentum keeps up and I can finish it in a timely manner. So here's to ideas, the writing and editing process and the idea of people across the country picking up your novel and declaring it good enough to read more than once.

Updates, crazies and...Twitter?
So, a year ago i decided I was done with my novel and all was going great. Well maybe less? No...yeah it was a year. And it sat and it sat and ....it sat. I thought "I should rewrite the whole thing." and then it sat some more. Eventually I came to the decision that I should leave my hopeful gateway into the authoring world be...edit it and resume the road to getting it read by the masses. As I am doing this I am working on book number two in the series and already today it's five pages in. Keep in mind, I was only writing for a total of an hour so far...I am far more creative late in the evening. And, I started a twitter because for some reason I think people will be interested in my one liners as I traverse the second book and editing process. I think I'm funny anyway....
So here's to writing, tea, pulling out hair...throwing pens across the room and lots of music bought in hopes it will cure any blocks. huzzah for the fall my future friends.
oh yeah...the twitter.... sinsofseven

Day 1: NaNo 2008
So. Its day one. I've done an astounding 8,000 words so far today. This is shaking up to be a productive NaNo. And I think I've FINALLY perfected my query letter. and now its fit for sending, and rejections. Oh come on, I'm just being realistic. I figure it'll take a year or more to find someone that will be wiling to take me on. And then, who knows how long to get it all published like. But I'm so cool with it, I'm just happy I was able to finish the first one.
Funny enough, I'm not even working on the second book to that series yet because right now, for NaNo I have an idea that has been burning in my mind. After a brief break to watch Shaun of the Dead, I'm back on until midnight (if I don't give myself a stop time I will write all through the night and never sleep). I love this idea, and I love where it's going so far. So. Here's to a wonderful November to all you NaNoers!

NaNoWriMo and a whole new Idea
So, NaNo begins this weekend, and I am thoroughly excited for yet another year of insanity. I was originally going to try and do book 2 in my whole Sins of the Seven series, but I've decided on something completely new. I'm very excited and it should prove to be a fun story, with all the supernatural/paranormal/fantasy themes I love, and a little crime suspense...government program...things. I know I'm not explaining it the best but here it is. So, if anyone is into getting into a crazy month of nuttiness and forum funtimes, then NaNo is the place for you. Just follow this here link and let the fun begin! National Novel Writing Month

NaNoWriMo
begins nov 1st. I hope you all will join me in the exciting yearly venture! Even though I will also be working on Book 2 (which may be put aside whilst I labor tirelessly to reach 50k in a month!) I am determined to finish this year. NaNoWriMo is a wonderful undertaking and this year I will regularly attending write-ins again. Excitement is here. Only a month until it begins.
So I hope to see you all at North Jersey Write-Ins!!!!
